The MFEM Economic Planning Division are looking for two experienced individuals to join the team as a Senior Policy Advisor & Economic Development Strategy Coordinator

The Cook Islands Government is offering a rare opportunity for two talented people to contribute to the economic development strategy through these exciting vacancies located in Avarua, Rarotonga.

The Senior Policy Advisor is a newly created policy role with a focus on a competitive market environment focused on reducing barriers to a market-led economy. The ideal candidate will have some understanding of economics and/or drafting legislation and policy for that market environment. Regulatory and project management experience in the public sector would also be an advantage.

Job description

The Programme Development Coordinator is a newly created role with a focus on coordinating the Economic Recovery Roadmap (ERR) and the associated projects within this.

This position will be required to work with the Director of the Economic Planning Division, across government agencies as well as the private sector and community groups.

This role reports to the Director of the Economic Planning Division.

The Senior Budget Analyst will be responsible for collating and managing budget data and information, analysing Government expenditure and looking for optimal cost effective solutions, reviewing strategic plans and capacity assessments and working with Government agnecies to develop the annual national budget.

This role reports to the Budget Manager.

The Revenue Management Division are seeking suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the following positions:

Tax Officer

The ideal applicant will have the following attributes:

  • High level of computer literacy.
  • Great attention to detail.
  • Achievement of NCEA level 2 or equivalent educational qualification in English, Mathematics, Accounting or Economics.

Tax Examiner

The ideal applicant will have the following attributes:

  • Have a high level of computer literacy, analytical skills and correspondence preparation.
  • A good understanding of commercial law is desirable.
  • Have a minimum of 2 years experience in an appropriate environment.
  • A Degree in Accounting.
